**Event Announcement: Orange Shirt Day at Scottsdale Community College**

Scottsdale Community College (SCC) will host an event in recognition of Orange Shirt Day, which aligns with the National Day of Truth and Reconciliation. The event is organized by the American Indian Program in collaboration with SPAIC and the SCC Library.

Orange Shirt Day is a time to acknowledge the impact of the U.S. Indian boarding school policy. Participants are invited to learn about the history of residential schools, reflect on their effects on indigenous communities, and engage in dialogue focused on healing and reconciliation.

The day is named after the story of a young girl whose orange shirt, a gift from her grandmother, was taken from her at a residential school. The orange shirt has become a symbol of awareness for the children who died or went missing at these institutions.
