Rescue Teams Extract Overheated Hiker on Camelback Mountain

Technical rescue teams from Phoenix Fire Department, Tempe Fire Medical Rescue Department, and Scottsdale Fire Department safely extracted a hiker from Camelback Mountain. The hiker became overheated and was unable to continue the descent. Firefighters used Phoenix Police Department's Firebird 10 to fly the patient to safety. Safety recommendations for hikers include planning hikes during cooler times of the day, carrying a fully charged cell phone, drinking plenty of water, and wearing proper footwear.
