Tempe Author Garners Major Literary Accolades

Tempe author Charlotte Whitney, a resident of Friendship Village, has received significant recognition for her historical novel A Tiny Piece of Blue. The novel won the American Fiction Award and the IPPY Gold Medal while also becoming a finalist for the Hawthorne Prize. In addition, the University of Michigan Alumni Association selected the book as one of the six 2025 Summer Reads.

Whitney, a former Writer-In-Residence at Tempe Public Library, is a member of the East Valley ALWAYS Writers and the Scottsdale Society for Women Writers.
