Scottsdale updates safety, rentals, water and accessibility plans
The City of Scottsdale shared a set of updates covering public safety, water planning and community programs, according to its government Facebook page.
Pedestrian safety zones: Scottsdale is creating designated pedestrian safety zones in select parks to reduce conflicts between pedestrians and e-bikes in high-traffic areas.
Short-term rental enforcement: The city issued 56 charges and citations related to short-term rental activity in May as it continued efforts to address nuisance parties, illegal events and criminal behavior.
Water planning: Scottsdale Water said it is proactively preparing for future Colorado River uncertainty through long-term planning, infrastructure investments, new groundwater recovery projects and a diversified water strategy aimed at ensuring reliable water service.
Budget adopted: City Council adopted Scottsdale’s fiscally conservative $2.119 billion FY 2026/27 budget, with investments in public safety, transportation, water infrastructure, parks and employee retention.
Citizen academies: Scottsdale’s citizen academies offer residents a behind-the-scenes look at police, fire, water, legal and local government operations, while encouraging civic engagement.
Accessibility plan approved: City Council approved an updated ADA Transition Plan providing a 20-year roadmap to improve accessibility across city facilities, parks, sidewalks, transit areas and digital services.

McDowell Preserve to Close for July 4
